The raw earth construction where we are volunteering in AbbruzzoThe raw earth construction where we are volunteering in Abbruzzo

After about 6 months that we were blocked because of my health conditions, we are back on the road, for a few weeks test trip! Right now we are in the Italian region of Abruzzo, volunteering for a construction project we found through Help-X website (Help Exchange). We are working with clay, cob and canes, all natural materials collected in the surroundings. We are eating locally grown food and wild plants, and experiencing the "wilderness" in our bodies. Both me and Otilia have several skin rushes, probably due to bug bites. But I guess we will survive :) And yesterday we went to sleep at 9pm and woke up at 5am! About 6 hours difference compared to our standards in Rome.
We had quite an hard time to reach this place. It wasn't easy at all to hitchhike that direction and when we arrived in the closest village after 11pm, from there we were supposed to walk a few kilometers in complete darkness. After about 2 kilometers we first heard dogs far away, and then just a few meters from us. We had to go back all the way, because it was a quite dangerous situation and we were in the middle of nowhere, so we decided we were going to sleep somewhere on the road, and try to reach the place the morning after. But then in the village we talked with the owner of a bar, that offered us a ride and brought us straight to the place after a much longer route than we were expecting! It was going to take ages to reach it by feet at night.
Now it's the second day we are here and the first time we are using internet in the last 36 hours. Quite a difference considering that in the last 6 months we barely moved from home and we were staying 10+ hours per day at the PC!
